Nursery

Here are some photos of Teagin's nursery. If you cannot tell, the wings on the wall have her name painted inside.

First Pediatrician Appointment

We had our first Pediatrician appointment yesterday. She got weighed and measured again. She is not the biggest baby in the bunch. She weighed in at 6 lbs 8.5oz, which was in the 6.08% percentile. She was 20.5 inches long, which puts her in the 75% percentile. Now her head circumference was a different story. Her head measured 33cm, which only put her in the 1.4% percentile. There is nothing to worry about, she is just a petite beautiful girl. The doctor said she is very strong, and advanced for her age.

Yesterday was a busy day, with the doctors appointment and a few other stops. Teagin was very fussy last night, and did not let her Mom or Nana get much sleep. She finally fell asleep at 3:30 this morning and is still sleeping as I type. Colby is upstairs sleeping, which she desperately needs. Lets cross our figures for a good day today.

So far Teagin so doing great. We had our first Dr.'s appointment, and she passed with flying colors. She did lose a little more weight, but she is still above a 10% lose. She weighed in at 6lbs. 6.5oz. She should now start to gain at a good pace. She meets her pediatrician for the first time on Friday.

I have also included some pictures of her nursery. She will not be sleeping in it for a little while, but I thought I would share.

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

Teagin was born on May 8th, 2010 at 9:45pm. She weighed 7.0lbs and measured 20 inches long. Colby called me on Saturday at around 5:30pm while she was at work. I was on the other line, so she left me a message. Her message started out, "Babe, I think my water just broke. I don't have my phone with me, and there is no one to answer the salon phone, because I'm the only one here." Great way to get an expecting Dad excited. So I try and call the salon back, but it goes right to voicemail. I try numerous times, but I cannot get a hold of her. So immediately call the doctors office, who evidently thought I was over reacting.

After talking with the nurse, I ran and grabbed everything in Teagin's room and threw it in the car. As I am about to pull out of the driveway, Colby finally calls back. She said she had a client processing and that she needed to finish. I told her to call the nurse, and ask what we needed to do. The nurse told her to go home and take a shower, and then come in.

We arrived at the hospital at 6:30. Colby went in and used the restroom, and when she came out she started having contractions. Once Colby got changed and after the nurse checked her out, her contractions were getting quicker and stronger. After about an hour, she was 4 cm dilated, and we were on our way to our room. The nurses then tried to put an iv in, but Colby's veins were to good. They tried 3 times, but could not get it to work. So we had to wait for the anesthesiologist, who happen to be in surgery and would be 20 minutes.

This news did not sit well with Colby, because by this time she was 9 cm dilated, and the contractions were getting excruciating. She finally got her iv in and the epidural, which helped a lot. After that it was all down hill so to speak. Colby pushed for about an hour, and then our beautiful baby girl made her entry into the world. We both cried and laughed. I cut the umbilical cord, and Teagin was placed into Colby's arms.

I cannot put into words what it means to be a father. Watching my wife go through the process and then my daughter being born is indescribable. I knew Colby was strong, but I had no idea the amount of strength it takes. She definitely had the best Mother's Day a Mom could have.

We are home now, and the real work starts. We are adjusting, and trying to get the dogs used to a new little squeaking baby (that might be more work than Teagin). We would like to thank everyone who stopped by the hospital, and sent congratulations messages. Enjoy the pictures. More to come...
